Condition

Overall in very good condition. The exterior surfaces were recently sensitively waxed by a professional conservator specializing in metalwork, and the vase displays beautifully in person with great vitality. One surface bruise along the top shoulder was also sensitively hammered out, greatly minimizing its appearance. The exterior surfaces with a few occasional light surface scratches, and with some small shallow surface bruises (a few located along the top shoulder, and a few located along the lower register of the vase) consistent with age and gentle use. (If desired these small bruises could be minimized and hammered out by a specialized conservator.) The bottom interior with surface soiling and discoloration. The underbase marked with an additional painted number, F431, over the impressed studio mark. An exceptional example displaying impressive scale and form, and a superb vibrant and painterly patina. The bottom of the vase is hand-wrought with subtle “wrinkling” which is not clearly visible in the catalogue illustration.
