Description

  • François-Emile Décorchemont
  • "Scarab" Vase
  • with artist's impressed mark and numbered 521
  • pâte-de-verre

Condition

Overall in very good condition. With a concentration of suspended air bubbles around the bottom register of the vase. The bubbles are visible at eye level but otherwise concealed when viewed from above. Some of the bubbles were close enough to the surface to have burst during the making. With a series of approximately six burst airbubbles along the edge of the foot of the vase, that are slightly rough to the touch, measuring approximately 1/8 inch in length. Scattered and minute air bubbles to interior of lip with accumulated surface dirt. The interior with minor crazing to the surface of the interior. Light surface dirt and chalky residue to interior. With wax residue to the underbase which is removable. Some bleeding of green coloration of scarabs into body of the vase. These imperfections are inherent in the making and in the pate-de-verre technique and process.
