Catalogue Note

I think it must be clear by now what is the chief contribution of Ju Ming to Chinese sculpture. He has taken sculpture in China beyond the level of a craft, beyond the academies and the Salon, out into a new world that he has created himself, with works that combine the classical and the popular, monumental and human, traditional and modern, East and West. He has created a body of work that while intensely Chinese fits comfortably in the international world of contemporary art.”
