Catalogue Note

“The paintings of Chu Teh-Chun dated between 2004 and 2006 present images that convey more to the viewer than the artist’s personal preferences or the pursuit of a more dynamic style. Rather, Chu examines each work in the hopes of further developing their uniqueness individually. Through the utmost strikingly abstract landscapes, the viewer is able to distinguish remnants of the best Chinese art by old masters within each canvas. The remarkable eye of Chu Teh-Chun manages to capture the most immeasurable nature of the universe, as well as symbols and signs that reflect a passage of time.

With thorough dexterity and precision, Chu’s painting has become an “absolute necessity” in expressing his feelings toward the cosmos. The meticulous arrangement of colour and line within his compositions exceptionally reveal a wholly limitless and timely affection for art.”
