Catalogue Note
"When painting a model the action of body is very important, even though the model stands still there must be a feeling of movement through the figure, or the pose will look stiff and artificial If the model stands on the right leg, so the corresponding hip is higher than the left one; have the left shoulder higher than the right, the contrast in the two movements will give a feeling of action. Having the model look straight ahead stiffens the whole pose, unless the shoulders are turned in opposition to the head. When posing the model, pay special attention to the hands; they can help or impair the movements of the figure."
