Catalogue Note

Raffaelo Romanelli was the son and student of Pasquale Romanelli. He also studied under Augusto Rivalta at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Florence.  A frequent exhibitor at the Italian salons, he was equally known in Paris and London.  He is responsible for the monument to Garibaldi in Sienna and to Charles Albert of Sardinia in Rome.  The Romanelli studio in Florence is still in existence as a private museum.
