surmounted by a cloud-borne cupid holding a flower-filled cornucopia, the carcass stamped E. ZWIENER three times, and branded 1869, the twin train movement impressed ETIENNE MAXANT/BREVETE/4 RUE STANTOINE and with a breveté seal, the gilt metal, blue and white enameled copper dial signed Passement/A PARIS.
Condition
Overall in good condition and presentation. The enamel dial is original to the clock, but shows green oxidation around the numerals 6 and 7. The glass face of the dial will need to be readjusted. It shows traces of glue around the edges of glass, and as a result we do not believe the glass is original. There are minor chips to the enamel dial around its edges, visible above numerals 45 and 50 and between numerals 5 and 10. Extensive tarnishing to gilt bronze with many areas where there is no gold left and one can notice the bare bronze. Extensive loss of gilding to the four feet.
The carcass and veneer with the usual minor hairline cracks, chips, dents consistent with age and use. The pendulum is not original.
