First edition in French, 5 volumes, 4to (210 x 138mm.), 5 engraved additional titles, 2 engraved portraits and 677 engraved plates (6 double-page), showing maps, plans, views, diagrams and portraits, ownership inscription in ink on title, contemporary calf gilt, spines gilt in compartments, [cf. Phillips, Atlases 3447; Pastoureau, Manesson-Mallet 1A], figure IX in volume 1 cut out and pasted over another plate, some light browning and spotting (more so in volume 1), end of volume 2 with light waterstaining at corners, spines and edges rubbed
