Whatman wove paper watermarked (where visible) 1808 or 1811, no text, early twentieth-century crushed green morocco gilt by H. Wood, spine in compartments with raised bands gilt, top edge gilt, others uncut, bookplates of Sir Herbert S. Leon (1850-1926) and Annie Cowdray, [cf. Abbey, Scenery 213], some light marginal dust-soiling or stains, spine and upper cover uniformly faded

Catalogue Note
According to the title this is a unique large paper set of these plates, issued without text and without the portrait of the Dean of Westminster (Abbey plate 2). Plate 4 ('Aymer de Valance') is signed F. Mackenzie instead of A. Pugin, which suggests the first state of this plate according to Abbey.
