Catalogue Note

A rare map of London by Richard Bennett, cartographer and engraver. This present example was exhibited at the British Library (November 2006 - March 2007) in "London: A Life in Maps".

It is interesting to note that the reverse of the fan is stamped "Clarke & Co. No. 26, Strand; invent". Clarke was proud of being the inventor of the new patent sliding fans.
