B.P.A. Certificate 1972. ONE OF THE FINEST MINT MULTIPLES OF THE PENNY BLACK EXTANT.
Catalogue Note
This remarkable block was a new discovery made in Scotland when sold by Stanley Gibbons Auctions in March 1972. It was offered with the original envelope of enclosure which bore the manuscript endorsement "Some Queens Heads given to Janet Davidson by her father the day before he took to his bed in his last illness." Sadly, this poignant memento is no longer with the block
