The overall condition is very good with only a few light glaze scratches to the interior.

Catalogue Note

The companion bowl, still remaining in the Sir Percival David Collection, now in the British Museum, London, is published in the Illustrated Catalogue of Ming and Qing Monochrome Wares in the Percival David Foundation of Chinese Art, London, 1989, no. 505. A similar pair of bowls of this unusual size and with the extremely rare incised reign mark, from the collection of Mr and Mrs Alfred Clark, included in the Oriental Ceramic Society exhibition of Monochrome Porcelain of the Ming and Manchu Dynasties, London, 1948, cat. no. 169, was sold in these rooms, 17th May 1988, lot 3.
