Engraved frontispiece portrait of the author by Ribault after Lafitte, 6 engraved plates after Isabey, Prud'hon, Lafitte and others by Pillement fils and Bovinet, Roger, Bourgeois de la Richardière and others in two states: uncolored before letters and handcolored after letters, extra-illustrated with 8 additional engravings (4 handcolored), additional engraved portrait of the author after Girodet-Trioson loosely laid in, half-title; frontispiece and preliminaries foxed, occasional foxing and staining to text, chiefly marginal, some marginal toning and foxing to plates. Antique tree calf, smooth spine lettered gilt, plain endpapers and edges.
