Catalogue Note

An extremely rare set, signed in pencil by both the author and illustrator and numbered one of only 20 copies. The broadsides present Milne's verses with Shepard's illustrations. The poem titles are: "Happiness," "Vespers," "Lines and Squares," "Hoppity," "The King's Breakfast" and "Teddy Bear" (featuring Winnie-the-Pooh). The only other set of the prints to appear at auction was from an issue of 250 printed on plain paper and colored by hand, which sold in our London rooms (12 July 2002, lot 679).
