Catalogue Note

A fine copy with the rare dust-jacket.

Samuel Clemens wrote A Dog's Tale for his youngest daughter Jane. An animal rights activist, she had requested that her father write a story about animal abuse. The story first appeared in the December 1903 issue of Harper's Magazine and in January 2004 was published as a pamphlet in London for the National Anti-Vivisection Society.
