The board is sound. There are fine cracks to the surface that relate to the grain of the board; notably in the upper left corner, the central left edge, the centre above the lock and across the centre of the canal. There is a very fine surface scratch in the lower right corner and some minor spots of scattered staining otherwise the paint surface is stable and in good overall condition. Under ultraviolet light, there are areas which flouresce however these appear to be by the artist's hand. Held in a painted wood frame with canvas surround.
