UNCONDITIONAL AND WITHOUT PREJUDICE Structural Condition The canvas is unlined on what is clearly the original fixed wooden stretcher. The canvas is inscribed and stained on the reverse. Paint surface Inspection under ultraviolet light shows a number of retouchings applied where the thickly applied impasto has become dislodged and detached. This is very characteristic of the artist where, for instance, the stems of the flowers are applied straight from the tube and do not adhere well to the ground layers. These retouchings, are predominately in the very dark green stems in the lower part of the composition. Summary The painting would therefore appear to be in reasonably good condition and no further work is required.
