- Porcelain and Malacca wood
- 9.3cm., 3½in.
modelled as a huntsman with a pointed beard, his scrolling hat forming the handle and moulded with scrolls, attached to a wooden cane of later date, cracked, some flaking to enamels
Provenance
Purchased from H.E. Backer Antiques, July 1956, for £80.
Condition
The brim of the man's hat has been restored and the restoration is chipped. This brim and the sides of his hat have been painted at a later date with thick grey enamel. there is a little rubbing to the fine black lines of the man's beard and some flakes of green enamel have chipped off, mainly at the sides of his head, but also a little on the top part of his hat. There are cracks running through the man's hat at the level just above the top of his head.
