Purchased from H.E. Backer Antiques, February 1945, for £25.
Condition
A section of the rim approximately 15cm wide has been re-painted and has now discoloured. Within this area, adjacent to the lower right bird cartouche there appears to be a large restored chip and there is also a chip to the rim approximately 5mm wide.

Catalogue Note
Niquet is recorded at the factory as a flower painter from 1764-92. It is probable that simple floral decoration was removed and the richer ground and bird painting added in its place during the nineteenth century.
