gobelet litron et soucoupe of the second size, decorated with a pink and blue pointillé ground reserved with military trophies by Buteux l'aîné, the trophy on the cup including a jewelled turban, dagger and a staff with a crescent moon

Condition

Fine scratches to the glaze in the centre of the saucer.

Catalogue Note

There is a vase with a very similar trophy on the reverse in the Royal Collection.  It is part of a garniture of circa 1773 thought to have been owned by Louis XV, painted with Turkish scenes.  See Geoffrey de Bellaigue, French Porcelain in the Collection of Her Majesty the Queen, Vol. I, no. 90,  p.395.
