Catalogue Note
It is extremely rare to find this shape with its original cover. For another, see Christophe Perlès, Céramiques Anciennes, 2007, Vol. 7, p. 74, no. 54. A further example, minus the cover, together with a variant form, is illustrated by Tamara Préaud, La Porcelaine de Vincennes, p. 21 and p. 135, no. 70. A barrel-shaped mustard pot was also made at Chantilly and an example is in the Victoria and Albert Museum, C415-1909.
