Condition

The sheet is sound, not laid down, but is adhered along the back of the top edge to a separate sheet which is sealed inside the mount. There are one or two tiny specks of foxing in the upper right corner. Generally the work is in excellent original condition with strong colours throughout. Held under glass in a stained wood frame with an off white mount. Please telephone the department on 020 7293 6424 if you have any questions regarding the present work.

Catalogue Note

While the present work has been frequently exhibited as Peasants in the Pyrenees, John indicated through various correspondence that he in fact never spent time in the Pyrenees, suggesting the title is a misnomer.
