circa 1950, woven with an abstract pattern of spheres, elipses and curves, in combination of pastel colours, taupes and shades of grey, within a four-sided narrow border with repeat pattern of seed/berry on stem motif, with the weaver's mark lower left corner of the border on horizontal format

Condition
Colours are a good colour match with the image in the catalogue. Tonally correct, just appears a little darker in reality when not in light.
Edinburgh Dovecot Studio mark (outline of a house with chimney and door) lower left corner of the border on horizontal format. Tapestry is lined. Some damage to back of lining. Loose at one side and needs re-attaching. Recommend that Velcro added across the top for hanging in the future. Some minor stains. Small hole bottom left corner of design, within the black area of the tear shaped motif (visible in the photograph), and another small hole further down to the right, within white area of weave. Other minor areas with warps showing, for example to dark area, within the lower edge within lower right section, just right of centre (visible in the photograph) and further up the right side, within the vertical strip of black up the left side of the roundel. Small areas of warp visible to top section of the the far right edge (visible in the photograph) crossing over the border and pale grey selvedge. Otherwise in good overall condition.
