18 Karat Gold and Carved Ruby Dress Set, David Webb, and carved sapphire studs

The ruby dress set including a pair of cufflinks and three studs, the terminals composed of carved rubies of a foliate design, within ropetwists frames, signed Webb; the four buttons composed of carved sapphires of foliate design, mounted in gold.

The carved ruby set is in good overall condition. The rubies are a deep pinkish red and included. There are a few chips and/or cracks, a few inclusions break the surface which is typical for this type of material. Two of the rubies in the studs are loose but totally contained by the gold rope mounting. The cufflink terminals are connected by arched bars. Please note the carved sapphires are mounted as buttons, not studs as stated in the catalogue, in closed-back claw mountings with a loop on the reverse.The sapphires are deep blue and heavily included, fairly well matched in color, with some small chips and surface cracks typical of this material.
