Description

  • 33.3 by 27.4cm, 13 1/8 by 10 3/4 in.
the icon painted in a highly refined style, depicting Jesus entering the walled city of Jerusalem upon a grey horse, the apostles standing on his left, the citizens of the city greeting their Saviour to the right, a stylised palm tree shown in the centre with children chopping branches, the city represented as a fortified town of pink brick

Condition

In overall good condition, the border of the icon has been stripped down to the levkas, some retouching in the mantle that has been layed down by a child for the grey horse
