A pair of black-patinated and parcel-gilt bronze candlesticks, 19th century

each faceted stem applied at the top with female masks wearing tall headdresses, circular base and socle decorated with palmettes

The black paint is uneven and there is rubbing to the gilding throughout. The masks on one candlestick are possibly a later cast.
