in 16th-17th century taste, of teremok form, the oak body applied with swirl-chased trellis, bold slavonic cartouches and corner brackets, set with varied hardstone cabochons, the lower section with hinged clasp and padlock, the lid containing a secret compartment, its lock concealed beneath a hinged cabochon, the handles and lid mounts cast with scrolls and stylised flowerheads, the interior and base fabric-lined, 84 standard
