There are losses to the enamel throughout. The spreaded foot supported by four dragon heads is warped. The dragon decorative motifs might have been a later addition. We would advise prospective buyers to view this lot.

Catalogue Note

The design of this charka appears to be in Oriental manner, but in fact it is inspired by 17th century Russian silver. This resemblance is not surprising, however, because Russian silver of that time was considerably influenced by works from the Middle East. The handle and the feet of this charka formed as dragon heads, a very auspicious symbol, are reminiscent of the designs on Chinese wares of the 18th and 19th centuries.  This synthesis of a traditionally Russian form and Oriental designs makes this object highly rare and unsual.
