Original canvas. There are signs of frame abrasion to the upper and lower edge of the canvas and a light layer of surface dirt. There are flecks of paintloss to the bottom right corner and small minor areas of paintloss throughout. There are lines of craquelure to the shawl of the main figure and few small areas in the background. The paint appears thin in places. UV light reveals small areas of retouching to the background behind the both figures and to the middle of the background on the right. Some pigments flouresce under UV. Held in an elaborate moulded gold painted frame. Unexamined out of frame.
