Condition

The paitning is in very good overall condition and on its original canvas. A few minor repaints are visible, especially on the donkey head, under UV light

Catalogue Note

Tony Binder s'installe au Caire en 1890, où il travaille comme photographe dans l'atelier d'Andreas Reiser, ce qui lui permet de parcourir toute l'Egypte, photographiant les touristes fortunés et les sites célèbres. Progressivement, il délaisse la photographie et se consacre à la peinture, peignant inlassablement les monuments historiques et des scènes pittoresques de la vie quotidienne égyptienne.
