Description

the rectangular top with rounded corners and fitted with a rope-molded gilt-metal banding to the frieze, the top tilting above a square block raised on downswept supports on a concave-sided square plinth raised on paw feet with scrolled brackets and headed by scallop shells, on casters.

Condition
Overall good restored condition; with a glossy surface; the top appears to be solid mahogany with a rosewood veneer and with some minor hairline age cracks and with very minor rippling and minor shrinkage; hairline age cracks to the crossbanded veneers to the frieze; the underside of the top with a black wash; one screw lacking to one backplate of locking mechanism; the plinth with age cracks; some minor areas of lifting to the veneer in places and with small nicks and wear to edges; some losses to the gilding in places due to rubbing especially to the feet.
