THREE LARGE CHINESE BROWN-GLAZED POTTERY JARS

each of barrel-form, molded and incised with dragons chasing the flaming pearl.

Condition

One jar has a 1 1/4 in., two 1/4 in. and one 1/8 in. chip to the rim edge. There is a 1/4 in. hole below the head of one of the dragons. The other jar has kiln accretion on the body of one dragon and around the shoulders. There is loss to the head and legs of one of the dragons and on one foot on the other dragon. There are numerous chips around the mouth rim and chips to the lug handles. The other jar has a 1 1/4 in. chip and a number of small chips to the rim edge. There is kiln accretion particularly around the shoulders. Both dragons have areas of repair which have been overpainted, one is 3 1/2 by 3 1/2 in. and the other is 6 by 3 in. There is loss to one of the lug handles. All three jars have overall surface wear.
