Condition

The first: Landscape in Surrey: The sheet has been carefully preserved and presented. The work has not been laid down and is hinged to the backboard at two places along the upper sheet edge. There is minor fading overall, there is minor surface dirt and possible occasional feint stains/foxmarks overall. There are several soft creases at the sheet edges, which can only be seen in a raking light. Damage at the very top left hand corner has been skillfully restored. The bodycolour is very fragile and has begun to flake but overall the medium remains well preserved. The second: A Log Stack: The sheet has been carefully preserved and presented. The work has not been laid down but is hinged to the backboard at two places along the upper sheet edge. Along the upper edge of the sheet there are a line of pin holes, which may have been made by the artist himself or relate to previous sketch book bindings. There are one or two foxmarks and some very minor surface dirt overall. The medium has remained clear and strong.
