Condition

The surface stripped of decoration, probably painted or gilded originally. Overall fair condition; overall with some minor nicks, wear, scratches and scuffs. Chair 1 with infilling to joins of uprights to backrest and carved tracery cresting and with old repaired break to tracery; rails reinforced; back right leg with slight warpage and with infilled chip; old worm damage to front left leg; brackets replaced. Chair 2 - with infilling to joins of uprights to backrest and carved tracery; cracks to tops of front legs each with screw; back left leg with two plugs at join with seat rail; later corner blocks; brackets replaced. Chair 3 - with some old worm damage to front legs; later corner blocks; small losses to back left bracket; back brackets probably original. Chair 4 with old repaired break to tracery at joins with uprights to backrest; left side brackets probably original and with some minor cracks and losses; minor warpage to legs.
