Catalogue Note

Gorham's records as reproduced by Larry Pristo in Martelé Gorham's Nouveau Art Silver, p.405, this large centerpiece bowl is listed as being completed on 15 November 1918. The maker is Alexander MacBeth, who raised the bowl in one hundred fifty-one hours and fifty-five minutes. The chasing was executed by an unknown chaser and was accomplished in one hundred ninety-one hours and thirty minutes.  The net factory cost was $637.00, but was revised on 11 August 1919 to $890.00,
