of deep oval form with undulating turned-over rim chased with whiplash scrolls, flower blossoms and foliage, one side with chased monogram MSK, the other side chased 1916 raised on four scroll feet headed by stylized leaves within panels

Catalogue Note

According to Gorham's records as reproduced by Larry Pristo in Martelé Gorham's Nouveau Art Silver, p. 355, this large centerpiece bowl was completed on 10 January 1916 by Alexander MacBeth with a making time of ninety-three hours. The chasing was executed by an unknown chaser and was accomplished in eighty-two hours and thirty minutes. The net factory cost was $337.50.
