Catalogue Note

Although this pitcher is not stamped with a Martelé code, it is very similar in overall form, size and placement of decoration to pitcher K/NQ which is illustrated in Larry Pristo's Martelé 925-1000 Fine Gorham Art Nouveau Silver, p. 90.  Pitcher K/NQ was completed on 6 September 1906 and had a net factor cost of $212.  It was raised by Henry H. Barker and chased by David Wilmot (Pristo, p. 371).  The striking similarities in the two pitchers suggest that the present lot may have been made/chased by the same silversmiths.
