Catalogue Note

John Loring notes in Magnificent Tiffany Silver, 2001, p. 35, that English designer Christopher Dresser purchased a quantity of Japanese arts and crafts in 1867-77 for Edward C. Moore on behalf of Tiffany & Co.  These bone plaques, as well as those mounted on tea caddies of this period were likely part of this purchase.
