Catalogue Note
The present subject of Aurora leading the chariot of Apollo with retinue has been rendered often by Roman micromosaicists during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. The scene is drawn after the large ceiling fresco by Guido Reni (1575-1642) in the Pallavicini-Rospigliosi Palace in Piazza Monte Cavallo, Rome.
