- Jean Baptiste Joseph Duchesne
- A Pair of Portrait Miniatures of Henry V, Comte de Chambord (1820-1883); and his sister Louise d'Artois, later Duchess of Parma (1819-1864)
- the first signed c.l.: J B J Duchesne; the second signed c.r.: J B J Duchesne
both watercolour and bodycolour heightened with gum arabic on ivory, gilt-metal frames
- Each 6.5 by 4.9 cm.; 2 ½ by 1 7/8 in.
Condition
Each of these miniatures is in very good condition. In both works the colours are fresh and strong. There is occassional minor mould evident, largely in the background of each work. This does not effect the enjoyment of this magnificant works.
