An English mother-of-pearl fan, the guards and sticks pierced, carved, gilt and silvered with gallant figures surrounded by birds and flowers, the vellum leaf painted with a country squire and his wife out riding flanked with two grisaille pastorals and flowers, verso with Antique ruins, circa 1760, 26,5cm long, and an ivory fan, the guards and sticks pierced and carved with floral garlands and scrolls, centred by a painted vignette with a grisaille figure seated in ruins, the paper leaf painted with Le Calendrier des Vieilliards, after François Boucher, verso with a ship, most probably English, circa 1760, 29cm long, both in fine glazed parcel-gilt wood frame

Condition

Fan 1: losses along folds and general rubbing, two strips of tape retoration in central vignette, silver tarnish. Fan 2: in display case, the fan in not fully extended ( 2 sticks overlapping on each side. Painted decoration on ivory enhanced, leaf cracking and slightly splitting along folds. General slightly rubbed.
