Condition

In generally good condition. The prints have a semi-glossy surface. Two in excellent condition. The remaining seven prints with the corners and edges occasionally worn.

Catalogue Note

Pour le célèbre film de Leni Riefenstahl Olympia, qui monumentalise la beauté des corps athlétiques lors des Jeux Olympiques de Berlin en 1936, le tournage du Prologue a été confié à Willy Zielke. Tourné à Athènes sur les sites antiques, les scènes du Prologue montrent un modernisme quasi expressioniste qui est caractéristique du style de Zielke. Le style emblématique de Zielke fut déjà remarqué en 1934 dans son film Das Stahltier (La bête en fer), une commande de la Reichsbahn pour commémorer les cent ans d'existence du chemin de fer allemand.
