Catalogue Note
Gonzalez Palma utilizes sepia toner after fixing and washing his prints. He then applies pigment--a combination of tar (asphalt) and solvent. In final stage of preparation, the photographer uses a Q-tip to remove paint selectively--in this case, where the mouth is on each image.
