Condition
In addition to the print of this image in the Center for Creative Photography, Tucson, Conger locates prints in the following institutional collections: United States Naval Academy Museum, Annapolis; Harrison Memorial Library, Carmel; Huntington Library, San Marino; Los Angeles County Museum of Art; Milwaukee Art Museum; and Special Collections, University of California, Santa Cruz, this last a Project Print.
This striking print, on paper with a semi-glossy surface and mounted to light cream-colored board, is in generally very good condition. Bands of silvering are visible in raking light along the left and right edges of the print (2-inches wide along the left edge and ½-inch wide along right edge). A few fingerprints are visible in the silvered areas. Occasional surface scratches are scattered overall, as are a few matte deposits of old retouching, likely original. There is miniscule chipping along the lower edge of the print. None of the above are immediately apparent and do not in any way detract from the overall fine quality of this print.
The mount is slightly bowed and is somewhat age-darkened at the periphery. There is light soiling along the upper edge of the mount and on the reverse. Also on the reverse, there are a few stray red marks, and the number '17' (circled) is written in pencil.
Another print of this image is reproduced in the following: A Legacy, pl. 34.
