Description

  • Herb Ritts
  • 'FLOATING TORSO' (ST. BARTHÉLEMY)
  • gelatin silver
signed, titled, dated, and editioned '5/25' in pencil on the reverse, framed, 1987 (Herb Ritts Work, unpaginated)

Condition

This photograph is in generally good condition. In raking light, a number of handling creases are visible. There are 4 sharp crescent-shaped handling creases (the longest of which measures 2-inches) that appear to break the emulsion somewhat; these creases are located in the upper right quadrant, the lower right quadrant, and to the left of the sitter. There are cropping notations in pencil in the lower margins. None of these issues are immediately apparent when viewing this print. The reverse of the print is hinged along its upper edge with 2 pieces of linen tape to a mat. There are a few small areas of light blue deposits, possibly ink, on the reverse of the print.
