Cette tabatière fut présentée à Lafon (probablement le célèbre acteur Pierre Lafon) en mai 1830, deux mois avant que le duc d'Orléans n'accède au trône sous le nom de Louis-Philippe, Roi des Français, suite à la Révolution de juillet.

This box was presented to Lafon (possibly the celebrated actor Pierre Lafon) in May 1830, two months before the duc d'Orleans acceded to the throne as Louis-Philippe, King of the French, following the July Revolution.
