Description

  • Relief with the Entombment
  • oak
with a circular white label numbered: 461 in black ink and a fragmentary label printed: M.T.A. to the reverse

Condition

Overall the condition of the wood is good. There is some wear and dirt to the surface consistent with age. There is some minor worming and stable splitting consistent with material; an area of small splits on the reverse was stabilised with paper. There are some minor losses including along the top edge and to the proper right hand of Mary and the Crown of thorns. The rocky outcrop on the top is loose due to a crack restored with wax. There is a later insert to the left half of its tip.
