Condition
The support consists of a single flat panel. Under the thick varnish the gold ground appears original and is worn a little in a few areas where the red fund is visible. The punchwork is a little worn but sound. The thick varnish interferes with the readibility of the paint surface but the work does nevertheless retain its charm. To the naked eye there appear to be discoloured retouchings in the flesh tones and hands of the Mother and the Child. Presumably the red and blue cloaks have also been retouched but the varnish impedes satisfactory inspection under UV light so this cannot be confirmed.
