Condition
The painting is darker than the catalogue illustration. The canvas has an old relining which has somewhat flattened the paint surface. To the naked eye the paint surface appears dirty and under a discoloured varnish with a few abrasions but otherwise in good condition. The dresses have become a little pressed and the faces lower right and in the black lady to the right have become sunken. The costumes do retain their elegance, however. Inspection under UV light reveals scattered retouchings but no major damages. Offered in a painted wooden frame with some knocks.
