STRUCTURE
The canvas has been lined.
PAINT SURFACE
The painting appears to be very good condition with no apparent loss of paint or damage. There is still pronounced impasto in the white pigment in the detailing of the dress.
ULTRAVIOLET
Examination under ultraviolet light reveals scattered very minor flecks of retouching in the flesh tones and a very small amount of infilling to craquelure in the sitter's dress. There appears to be a slightly opaque and discoloured varnish overall.
FRAME
Held in a gilded wooden frame.
